Swordcrossed by Freya Marske
Anne’s Review:
This book was the slowest of slow burns and I absolutely loved it! I don’t think I’ve read a book with better tension. Even though the spicy scenes were top tier, I still probably would’ve picked this book up without them. The premise of the story drew me in immediately and kept me engaged until the very end. There were twists and turns, and an ending that I didn’t expect but tied everything together perfectly. The only criticism that I would give this novel is: be prepared that it is plot-heavy, you will learn a lot (maybe more than you wanted to know) about wool. Well done Freya Marske!
Kristen’s Review:
I had no expectations going into this novel and I really enjoyed doing it that way! This book is CHOCK full of pining, tension, and romance. I loved how the two main characters interacted with each other and the way they danced around their feelings. This was such a love letter to queer romance and it felt warm and cozy to read. The only thing that slowed my enjoyment of this book was shockingly the plot. While well-researched, Freya Marske tended to go a bit heavy-handed on the wool production facts! But if you can get past the ins and outs of the wool industry, you will love this book.
